Aunty Lallie has always been something of a phenomenon in the kitchen, cooking for our own family as well as our neighbours when we were growing up 
When she ran the school tuckshop she would cater school events and word soon spread to other schools in the areas as well. 
 So one day while she was making us roti I filmed it and posted it to her own youtube channel.  The channel began to grow slowly and by April 2021 we reached the 500 subscribers mark, then 5000 and by the end of the year 10000 subscribers. 
The aim of the channel was to record the knowledge she holds in her head so that it can be passed on to the next generation.  But it has also served as a way to grow my mom's own confidence through the journey as well as show that she had something to share, which has been the best thing I could have done for her. 
At 61 she has found a new purpose and something to look forward to and keep her busy.  She has blossomed into a true Youtube sensation and the aprons for her represent an achievement she would not have even dreamt of 18 months ago!
